The 49th Judicial District Court is a court created by statute.  Its powers are enumerated both by the Texas Constitution and by the statute.  It has jurisdiction in criminal, civil, tax and comestic relations.  The 49th District Judge is a member of the Auditor's Board, Juvenile Board, Bail Bond Board, the Administrative Board, and the chairman of the Community Supervision and Correction Board.  The 49th District Judge is elected by the voters of Webb and Zapata counties for a four year term.
